It’s a Buccaneers Summer, that’s for sure.
It’s a filler before Bridgerton, but I still love and adore the series.
Season 2 kicks off right after that emotional and gut-punching finale—Nan marries Theo after sacrificing her love for Guy. I think I can speak for a lot of us when I say that was the most gut-wrenching moment. Seeing Nan give up her love for Guy to protect her sister Ginny? Will they ever see each other again?
The Season 1 finale had me all over the place. To refresh your memory: Ginny drops the bomb that she’s pregnant and being abused. Nan strikes a deal with the Dowager Duchess and goes through with marrying Theo in exchange for Ginny’s safe escape.
Apart from the emotional wreckage the finale brought, I’ll say it—Nan and Theo have my heart. Okay, I admit it. I always find it difficult to like both sides of a love triangle, but I do. Still, I feel so bad for Theo. Everyone is lying to him, and Nan is hiding her true feelings. There’s no doubt that she loved him—she did. But her love for Guy is stronger, more real.
Nan’s panic this episode had me all over. I felt so bad for her. All she wanted to do was protect her sister, but hurting Theo is part of that. One of the biggest moments was the reveal of Nan’s biological mother—which I just knew was going to be Leighton. I love her and haven’t seen her in much lately, so that was oh so nice.

This episode was subtle and sprinkled a lot that I connected with from the trailer. First of all, it seems like a lot of the newspaper headlines are written by Nan—as if she has a plan to distract attention away from anything about her sister. The first shift in public conversation? Her dress at the black-and-white ball. Iconic, if you ask me.
Alsooo, I feel like I’m totally here for it but also all over the place—Theo and Lizzy?? How are we feeling?? I’m kind of on board but also want a love for Lizzy that is light and easy.
I mean, I can imagine Theo finding out about either the agreement or Guy and Nan—and maybe then the affair between Lizzy and Theo happens? In the trailer we see Lizzy running from a guy, and then there’s a headline about an affair. There were like two snippets of Theo and Lizzy in the first episode, and I feel like it’s kind of setting itself up.
Although I cannot wait to see Lizzy and Hector—I feel like he’s so good for her.
Side note: I feel like Lizzy having an affair with Theo would be completely out of character. I just can’t see it happening, although it truly seems like it might. Please don’t ruin Lizzy’s character.
That said… I’m not entirely sure, but I’d lowkey be here for it if it meant Guy and Nan could live happily ever after.
Nan’s disappointment after hearing it might not be possible to bring her sister back—because of the way she fled—was heartbreaking. Even as a duchess, she may not have enough power. I know Ginny does end up coming back eventually (as we see in the trailer), but I wonder when. I know there’s a time jump coming—maybe in the next few episodes?
I dearly want to see Nan and Nell’s relationship blossom. It seems like Nan may have caught on—or got a hint—that Nell was her birth mother when her mother mentioned how long it had been since the two had talked. I could see the slight disappointment in Nan’s face. It truly hurt.
I love my dear Mabel and Honoria and cannot wait to see their relationship this season. Happiness only, please.
I do want to see parts of Theo and Nan’s marriage, even if it hurts my Guy/Nan heart. She loved him at some point—maybe it will grow? All I know is that the reunion between Guy and Nan will be it for me.

I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season holds. This first episode set up a more intense and emotional tone—a heavy contrast from the first season.
