Dare I say episode two took me on a whirlwind—I felt like I was being pulled in every direction.
First of all, the episode opening up with Lacy? I was appalled. Honestly, the best place to put that song while she’s thinking back on what happened around that time—it was a phenomenal choice.
I hated seeing Belly hurting because of the choices of a literal manchild. Like, how are you going to cheat—and yes, he did cheat—and then throw every excuse into the air like it matters? Yeah, no. I can’t even begin to understand the choices he makes sometimes, but hey.

Steven and Taylor happened to be a delightful and undelightful highlight of this episode. They had me crying, dare I say. Like, the crash was enough and now Taylor thinks it was her fault—and gosh, the bedside confession is going to get me every time. A tear almost escaped my eyes. It was such a sad scene, and I feel like we’re diving deeper into their relationship, and I am all the way here for it.
We do have a new character—Denise, who works with Steven—so I wonder if romance will spark between the two? I’m curious to learn more about her, and we know Jeremiah ends up working there at some point as well, so I wonder if she could also play into that?
I could not get over Jeremiah getting on his knees begging Belly to forgive him. You must be joking. I am Team knock some sense into Jeremiah any day of the week. I knew Belly was going to forgive him and say yes to his proposal as a reader of the series—and as disappointed as I was reading it for the first time, I was even more disappointed seeing it on my screen. It baffles me how Jeremiah could make such choices and then claim he is better for Belly.

Conrad may have his flaws, but that man would never—and I mean never—cheat on Belly.
Speaking of the better Fisher brother, the Christmas flashbacks are living rent-free in my mind right now. I read the book about four years ago, and that scene has always been a favorite of mine. It’s when she realizes that one day with Conrad could make her feel like she did as a teenager and fade those feelings of Jeremiah away—even if she loved him. It goes to show how strong their connection is, regardless of the years apart (hint hint), and the years without seeing each other.

I just have to say Jenny Han is a genius for multiple reasons, but her biggest ones are her Easter eggs and connections with her other projects. First of all—Jeremiah and Belly dressed as Peter and Lara, the parallel of Conrad looking down at Belly as she fell, the constant Sabrina and Casablanca references, and of course the crossword puzzle. I feel at ease and such a warmness at these parallels and Easter eggs—along with a slight tense feeling as I know this is the last season.

The moments between Conrad and Belly make this last season worth it. Although we only really saw them together once, it was perfect. First and only reason: the fact that Mystery of Love started to play. I literally gasped and had to take a lap around my room. It is now their song—just like False God, and especially like Style. It fits them so much and makes me cheese every time I hear the song now. That moment made so much sense, and the song placement was a perfect choice. They just gave married couple in the best way—relaxing at home, drinking tea, and watching old movies. Belly not telling Jeremiah that she was there with Conrad told me everything I needed to know.
Apart from this season being the last, I, as a fangirl, am going to cherish this season to the fullest extent. If you read the books, you can only expect what is to come. I assume the next episode will include a little time jump and that they’re headed to Cousins Beach for Susannah—and to tell everyone they are, well… engaged. A hard watch indeed, but only for my dears Conrad and Belly. She is going to shave her legs for him and make her hair just right—all while engaged to his brother. Belly, I love you.

Moments worth a mention:
- Belly saying she still loved him and always would—exactly like the book.
- Don’t know if anyone caught this but the crossword book looked like an infinity symbol??
- Conrad getting fired from his program—my heart broke.
- Taylor encouraging her to forgive him—guys, no!!
- Conrad still looking after Belly even after not seeing her for so long.
- Jeremiah proposing with no ring… outside the hospital Steven is in…
